Senior Director of Operations – Israel (Hybrid)
Jerusalem (Hybrid with field travel as needed)
Reports to: COO (NY-based)
Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior Director of Operations to lead and scale its expanding work in Israel. This senior leadership role will ensure all programs and initiatives run smoothly, on time, and within budget, while embedding the systems and structures needed for long-term excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Lead execution of all Israeli-based programs and activities, from planning to follow-through. Build workflows, track progress, and resolve challenges to ensure clarity, discipline, and impact.
Team & Accountability
Manage staff, contractors, and freelancers; set expectations; and ensure high-quality delivery. Partner closely with the Senior Director of Israeli Programs to bridge vision and implementation.
Systems & Infrastructure
Oversee internal systems and tools (e.g., project management, documentation, onboarding), ensuring efficiency and compliance. Maintain smooth collaboration across teams in Israel and the U.S.
Budget & Administration
Monitor program expenses and budgets; manage payroll, contracts, and compliance in coordination with the finance and legal teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Coordinate with U.S. and Israeli colleagues across recruitment, facilitation, and leadership teams. Manage key vendor relationships to ensure high-quality, cost-effective delivery.
Reporting & Authority
It works in close partnership with the U.S.-based COO and peers on the Israeli team to deliver organizational priorities effectively.
Job requirements
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in relevant fields - required.
• Bicultural fluency: Legally authorized to work in Israel, with fluency in
Hebrew and English and demonstrated ability to operate across Israeli
and North American work cultures.
• Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in operations, program
implementation, or organizational management - preferably in
nonprofit or mission-driven contexts.
• Experience managing people, projects, systems, and cross-functional
teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal EQ and ability to work across complex internal
dynamics.
• Comfortable working under U.S.-based leadership while leading on-
the-ground operations in Israel.
• Proven experience managing execution in multi-program, multi-
stakeholder environments.
• Experience supervising staff and/or freelancers a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to hold focus and forward motion in dynamic
environments bringing urgency and follow-through without adding
unnecessary complexity.
• Proven ability to lead peers and contractors through task-based
supervision, setting expectations, tracking execution, and driving
accountability without relying on formal hierarchy.
