The System Engineer will be responsible for the integration, and verification of a electronic sensing system for a catheter-based medical device. The role combines system engineering, electrical engineering, project leadership, regulatory compliance, and test method development throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to commercialization. Key Responsibilities System Engineering • Translate clinical, user, and business needs into measurable engineering requirements. • Lead system integration activities between electrical, mechanical, software, and catheter subsystems. • Support risk management activities in accordance with applicable medical device standards. Electrical Development & Technical Leadership • Lead the electrical aspects of the sensor project. • Manage technical activities related to sensors, electronics, signal acquisition, data processing, and system performance. • Work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure successful implementation of the sensing solution. • Review electrical designs, test results, and verification activities. Regulatory & Standards Compliance • Develop a thorough understanding of applicable standards for electrically active intracardiac catheter systems, including but not limited to: o IEC 60601 Series (Medical Electrical Equipment) o ISO 14971 (Risk Management) o IEC 62304 (Medical Device Software Lifecycle Processes) o IEC 62366 (Usability Engineering) o Additional standards relevant to electrically active cardiovascular catheters. • Support interactions with regulatory bodies and certification agencies throughout the development process. Verification, Validation & Test Development • Define system verification strategies and acceptance criteria. • Design and specify test fixtures, jigs, simulators, and measurement systems required for development and verification activities. • Develop methods for performance characterization, calibration, reliability, and environmental testing. ________________________________________ Qualifications • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/ Biomedical Engineering/ Systems Engineering, or related discipline. • M.Sc. – Advantage. • 7+ years of experience in multidisciplinary medical device development. • Proven experience leading complex system engineering activities from concept through verification and validation. • Hands-on experience with medical electrical devices. • Experience with sensing technologies, signal acquisition systems, and electronic medical systems. • Experience leading multidisciplinary projects involving hardware, software, mechanical, and system integration teams. • Experience with catheter-based, cardiovascular, electrophysiology, or structural heart devices – Strong Advantage. • Experience supporting regulatory submissions and external audits – Advantage.
